About Creative Management

This feature is applicable only if it has been enabled for your account. If enabled, the Ad Quality | Creative Review option is available in from the main navigation. To enable this feature, please contact your PubMatic Account Manager.

Currently, in the PubMatic system, a publisher can block creatives from a specific advertiser by specifying either its domain URL, attributes of the creative (such text-only ads, video ads, and so on) or category of the creative (such as Auto, Fashion and so on). For URL-based blocking, the publisher needs to specify the complete domain URL of the advertiser.

However, blocking based on domain URLs is not completely effective because of following reasons:

  • It is not possible to know all domain URLs that marketers may use.
  • Marketers moving towards social media platform use domain URLs that are different than those associated with advertiser or category. For example, landing pages on Facebook, YouTube and so on.
  • Many times, domain URL does not accurately represent the ad that will be delivered to publisher's sites.
  • A large number of domain URLs may cause latency issues in ad serving.

The Creative-based Blocking feature helps the publisher to overcome with these issues. Using this feature, the publisher can pro-actively approve or reject the advertiser’s creative from being displayed. In this way, it provides effective real-time blocking of creative by their IDs. Therefore, if a DSP sends a RTB bid containing a creative ID which you have blocked, then that bid is not considered in the PubMatic auction.

There are two types of creatives to be reviewed:

  • PubMatic's Creatives: Indicates the creatives served through the PubMatic RTB channel.
  • Ad Network's Creatives: Indicates that the ad networks associated with your account provide UI that allows you to review their creatives.
