Direct (UAS Only)

Ad Units 

Inventory for your site or app in the Unified Ad Server (UAS) is made up of  Ad Units and Ad Unit Groups.

  • Each Ad Unit is a block of inventory that can be targeted by a line item. 
  • Ad Unit Groups are a collection of ad units that can be managed together.
  • In the Unified Ad Server (UAS), once you create an ad unit, you can generate the ad tag code needed to add to your site page(s). By placing the provided tag in the header and the tag in the body where the ad will be displayed, ad unit tags will call UAS to retrieve ads for display when a user views the page.

Native Templates 

A native template defines the assets and components required to fulfill the native design for the ad unit. Native templates can be used in the creation of ad unit inventory.

Programmatic

Sites & Tags

Creating sites and apps in PubMatic greatly enhances the granularity of your reporting for your account. Sites are often created for different areas of a website, for example, the home page and subpages for sports, news, entertainment, and more. A publisher will often want to have a unique ad tag for each slot on a page. If you have multiple properties, you may want to set a different site for each.

 

An ad tag is HTML or JavaScript code that is inserted into the source code of a web page or app that is used to retrieve an ad from an ad server. The ad tag code contains the size, type, relative location and other parameters that define the inventory the publisher wants to display on their site or app. Typically, publishers create a separate ad tag for each ad that will be displayed on the site. Before creating an ad tag, you must first create the site or app in PubMatic that it will be applied to.

RTB Rules

A publisher can create rules that will affect the bidding process of its inventory. A publisher can create a rule specific to a certain demand partner and set a price floor value. This will ensure that the publisher receives certain minimum revenue from that demand partner when the demand partner bids for the publisher's inventory. 

 

Demand partners, typically DSPs, connect to the PubMatic system using RTB campaign. There are certain RTB partners to which the PubMatic system contacts to ask for the bid for an impression. Since there are multiple DSPs in the bidding process, they bid different amounts for the impression. Depending upon the maximum bid amount, the ad auction engine selects the winning ad network/DSP and adds this winner’s URL in the ad tag response back to the visitor’s browser.

 

In this process, the Rules screen helps a publisher to create rules which will affect the bidding process in the RTB campaign. A publisher can create a rule specific to a certain demand partner and set a price floor value.

Rule Manager Alerts

Rule Manager Alerts provides the ability to select the frequency at which alerts should be sent to publisher administrators. Real-time alerts will be sent to the email address registered for your account when changes are made to rules in PubMatic, based on the frequency set in the Rule Manager Alerts section.

Section Mapping

Section Mapping enables a publisher to create site-specific sections, such as entertainment, sports, fashion, etc. These sections can be used to categorize the impressions to be displayed on the publisher's website. Rules in the Rules screen can be created specifically to target such sections. These sections are also used to create the Section Insights report.

Ad Networks and Placements

The PubMatic platform provides the ability to add ad networks and map an ad tag to a placement in the Publisher UI using this interface.

Ad Network Settings

Ad Networks are the companies that connect advertisers and publishers to buy and sell ad spaces for hosting ads in PubMatic. The Ad Networks page can be used by publishers to view, add and manage ad networks.
