Introduction

This feature enables publishers to add or modify multiple ad tags in the PubMatic UI in a single operation. For publishers who frequently add or modify large numbers of ad tags, single tag management occupies valuable ad operation resources and slows time-to-revenue for sites.

How to Upload a List of Ad Tags

This process enables publishers to create, modify, or delete ad tags used for open market (RTB) channels.

  1. In the PubMatic Publisher UI, select Inventory & Rules | Sites & Tags from the main navigation.
  2. Select the Bulk Uploads drop-down and select Upload Ad Tags from the list.
  3. Select the Upload Ad Tags tab, and click:
Download Ad Tag to modify or delete exiting ad tags, or
    - Download Template to add new ad tags.

A CSV file will be saved to your local 'Downloads' folder.

    Additionally, click:
    - Placements to download the list of all ad networks and placement IDs to be used in the upload file.
    - Glossary to download instructions and acceptable values for the fields in the CSV files.

  4. Edit and save updates to the downloaded CSV file.
Tip: Click Glossary  to download instructions and acceptable values for the fields in the CSV files.
  5. Click Choose File to locate and select the edited CSV file. Click Upload to process the list of ad tags. Click Refresh to check the status of the upload. The Action column will display one of the following statuses:
    - In Progress: Indicates the current upload operation is in progress.
    - Failed Entries: Click the button to download a report of the failed ad tags with corresponding failure reasons.
    - Success: Indicates there are no failed entries in the uploaded file.
  6. After the uploaded file is processed, the successfully processed ad tags are added to your account for the specified sites. The number of successful and failed entries will be reported in the Past Upload table on the Upload Ad Tags tab.

If the file contained ad tags that failed to upload, click Failed Entries in the Action column to download a CSV file that indicates failure reasons. Failure can occur for the following reasons:
  • Missing value for a mandatory column in the file.
  • The Site URL in the file does not exist in the publisher's account.
  • Invalid value in a column.
  • Invalid Site URL in the file.
